We offer everyone the unique opportunity to grow as a child of God at their own pace in local settings without traveling great distances and being separated from their family, friends, and church.
Our staff and students are people who are serving on the front lines in local church settings. They understand the cultural challenges facing the 21st century church and believe these to be exciting times in which God is greatly moving among his people. We invite you to connect with us today.
Whether you feel led to serve locally or internationally, we believe a call to ministry is indeed a call to prepare oneself for service. As such, we partner with local and international churches, and many other groups worldwide to assist in training all people and people groups who have a strong desire to grow in the likeness of Christ.
Appalachian School of Theology is a religious institution exempt from state regulation and oversight in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
We're delighted to announce is that we are now offering four different Degree Programs wherein students can earn the following degrees: (1) Associate' Degree in Theology (AA) ; (2) Bachelor's Degree in Theology (BTh); (3) Master's Degree in Theology (MTh); (4) Doctor of Theology (ThD). In addition, we're thrilled to announce that we have obtained official accreditation through AAATI (American Accrediting Association of Theological Institutions.
The classes we're offering can be viewed in our School Catalog (below) and the cost of these classes is affordable by everyone. In addition, we have secured an LMS (Learning Management System) wherein we will offer the option of distance learning enabling students around the world to enroll and complete their degrees at their own pace. Our plans are to launch our first online class in the Summer of 2025.
Prospective participants who are concerned about the cost of the classes should not let this hinder their involvement. Payments can be made throughout the semester and scholarship assistance is readily available from numerous partners in ministry. Members of churches who are aligned with the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) are eligible for scholarship assistance. We can assure you that no one will be turned away because they feel they cannot afford to be involved; however, participants who might receive scholarship assistance need to remember that "someone felt they were worthy of their investment" and should try their best to excel.
We launched our first class in January of 2018 and are now celebrating our seventh year of operation. The classes we are currently hosting in person are meeting each Monday night at the Family Life Center located on the campus of First Baptist Church in Nickelsville, VA. In addition, we have a Regional Resource Library located at First Baptist Church in Nickelsville, VA.
We are also in the process of establishing numerous satellite locations in Virginia and globally as well as our Appalachian School of Theology in Uganda is preparing to launch their first classes in January of 2025. If you, your church, or district association are interested in establishing a satellite location please contact our President Steve Collins @ president@astva.org
